Day 19 - Old Clothes

Photobucket

I bought the blue shirt a few years ago when I first started going to the gym.

Got addicted to Turbo.  Started living.  Lost 80+lbs.

Bought the pink one as my new gym shirt.

Moved here.  Was sick for over a year.  Gained 80+lbs.

I'm finally feeling better.  I'm going to the gym again.

Dug out the blue shirt from the "Garage Sale" box.

I'm wearing my old old shirt now.

I can't wait to be wearing my old new shirt.

Day 18 - Helping Others

Photobucket

I put videos up on YouTube primarily for myself.  To keep myself accountable; and to someday be able to look back on my journey.  I've recently decided to also start documenting my journey out of debt; and my issues with hoarding.  I chose to share them on YouTube, because when I did a search, there weren't many others doing so.  I would've liked to see other people's journeys.  So I share mine.  So that others searching will know they're not alone.  I'm not sure it counts as "Helping Others"; but that's the only thing I'm currently doing that comes close.

Day 17 - Workout Tunes

Photobucket

When I do Turbo, I listen to Turbo music.  It's probably the best working out music ever; it really pumps you up.
When I go for a walk, I prefer to listen to books on tape, or podcasts.  I don't get too intense; but I can go a lot longer; especially if I just have to know what happens next.  ;)

Day 16 - Shakeology

Photobucket

Michael Pollan's In Defense Of Food is the absolute best book I've ever read about food.  In a nutshell, it doesn't matter what type of diet you eat; as long as you eat Real Food.  Not foodlike products.

To me, Shakeology is not real food.

They say it's "The Healthiest Meal Of The Day"; and maybe for some people it is.  The point of it is supposed to be that you get all the nutrients you need from it.

I remember when I was little you'd often see athletes on tv drinking eggs.

That's what "healthnuts" did before somebody decided to invent protein powder.

If I were to decide that I needed a Healthiest Meal In A Cup, I would choose to drink a couple of eggs & an orange or two.  Real food, and way cheaper too.

Shakeology is not for me.  But if it works for you, then enjoy it!  We all gotta find what works for us. :)

Is there a more quintessential athlete than Rocky?

For the moment, I am flying solo.

Day 14 - Workout Outfit

Photobucket
I am officially genuinely grateful that I decided to do this little challenge.  The photo for today was "Workout Outfit".  There is no class today.  I was planning on taking the dogs for a walk and just taking a picture of whatever I was wearing.  Then I thought, that's kinda lame.  It HAS been 2 DAYS already with no workout whatsoever....
I popped in my The Firm Cross Trainers: The Tortoise Workout tape, and pulled my son over, and we sweated our booties off.
Feels good.  :)

Day 13 - My Gym

Photobucket

Alright, so I just didn't feel like driving out just to go take a picture of my gym.

But then I thought about it...  I only go there 2 days a week.  The rest of the time it's up to me to choose my workout at home.  5 out of seven, this is it.  I also have a treadmill and an elliptical; but they are in the garage.

Day 12 - Fit Club

I've been sending my friend Ruby my workout of the day.  Or lack thereof.

We've actually been using facebook messenger; but you've already seen that. ;)

Day 11 - Ingredient

"What healthy ingredient to love to cook or bake with?"
Photobucket

Is there anything more versatile than eggs?

I heard Jillian Michaels say that they are nearly a complete food.  The only thing they lack is vitamin C.

Who knew?

Day 9 - Sweat

This was very hard to get. It's so cold here that even during Turbo my shirt never gets anywhere near as soaked as it used to get in hot & humid Hawaii.  Today I kept my sweatshirt on and managed to get this:

Day 7 - Rest Day

Photobucket

Uhm, I guess I'm supposed to have been working out daily in order to need a rest day?
I'm spending my Rest Day dealing with this stuff on the table.

Day 6 - Accountability Partner

My friend Arlene and I are on the same journey to better our lives.  And This year, we're gonna do it.  Damnit.

Since I put the cell phones in a coma, we check in with facebook messenger.

Day 3 - Workout

Photobucket

Was planning to post a still of me during the workout; but I forgot to charge my ipod.  :(

Day 2 - Breakfast

Photobucket

Two hard-boiled eggs and a very mushy pear.

I only ate the pear because I'm working on Living Like NoOne Else.  In previous days, I would've thrown it away.  In future, more organized, better me days, I'll throw in the compost pile.

30 days. Ok, 29.

Yesterday my friend posted this on Facebook:
Photobucket
It's the list for a 30 day photo challenge.  She's a Beachbody coach.
While I think the workouts are fantastic, I have no interest in Shakeology or recruiting other "coaches".  So I'm not joining her in this.

BUT

It did get me thinking...

I've gone in and out of periods where I journaled regularly, if not every day.  I remember doing well when I was journaling.  I'm well aware that correlation does not equal causation, so I would not say that journaling makes me do better.  It may in fact be that I've journaled BECAUSE I was doing well.  Who knows?
The point is, I'd like to get back to it.

I can never make myself just do it.  Just like too many other things around here, I say I'll do it tomorrow.

This photo challenge seemed like an easy way to make myself jump back in.  Just a picture, easy.
I can do this.

Since I have zero interest in Beachbody, I obviously can't follow the list exactly.  I'll just substitute as I go.  The main idea is to get one post in daily for the next month.  Yesterday is over, so I can just skip one of the non-applicable ones.  Okay, here goes:
